Some diary pages from the Swedish countryside

Hello!
Since you didn’t get the diary post in the beginning of the month, but I’ve been doing some documenting since then, I thought that you might as well get a little diary tour now.
Not much is happening out in the country. It’s mostly dog walks, digging in the garden and work for me.

We’ve been visited by the neighbor’s dog a lot. The neighbor isn’t too happy about it, but the dogs are.scan0058
Working amongst a bunch of cats is as cozy as it is frustrating.

Then it’s all of the travelling that I told you about before, which is going a lot better since the dog got used to public transport.
And digging, with the help of the grooviest gang in Gummarp (that’s the name of the place)

And more dog-walks. After the winter it’s kind of flooded here, so it’s more jumpping than walking for us right now.

That’s all from me today. Hope y’all are having as nice a time as I am :)

Opera mom

As promised, I just finished a bigger, brighter, black and white picture.
I spent so much time on the ink-work that I was scared of ruining it with the paint. I would imagine this to be really colorful, but as that was not the plan, I decided to scan it before doing anything else. So now, if I want to color it again, I can just print it out. Here’s how it looks:

And here it is with all the black paint on it, plus a text that says “sometimes the mom sings opera at breakfast”: OperaMammaText.jpg
It’s inspired by my mom, who doesn’t actually sing opera at the breakfast table, but she does sing sometimes. And she lives in a pretty messy house with my youngest brother and a big bunch of cats. It could very well look like this.

I think my biggest struggle was the shadows. Since I couldn’t use color to get a focal point, I had to do it with light instead. I think it turned out fine, but omygoshyouguys, it took so long to finish. Unfortunately, when I’m excited about a project, I forget about pretty much everything else. So this have kept me awake for way too long, and I’ve also fallen behind on a few commissions, so I’ll be working hard the next few days.
It was worth it though. I really like it, and Mom loves it.

See you when I’ve caught up with my work!

Neighbor and cats

Ok, so I have time for a small one.
I realized after last post that I definitely need more practice drawing people, and especially animals, from behind. So here’s a sketch I made on the bus. It’s inspired by my neighbor, always seen carrying something, and followed by a bunch of cats.

Have a nice sunday!

Visit at mom’s

Good morning!
Here’s a spread in my diary from my visit at mom’s house.

I did the stupidest thing here. I had some plan with that purple paint, but it messed up big time, so I decided to paint it over. That went ok. Most of the page went back to white and all was good.
Until I closed the book. Before the paint dried…

Almost the whole top half of the spread was covered in white paint and ripped off paper sticking to it….
I’m very proud to have been able to restore most of it, but also ashamed to have wasted so much time because of such a stupid mistake.
Stupid stupid stupid.

Anyways. I’m over it now.
We just got some proper snow (finally!) so it’s time for a long walk with the dog.

Have a great day!
