Hello.
My name is Embla Ester Lovisa Granqvist Hjulström.

But my friends call me Lo.

I come from Sweden, and am currently living in Denmark, in a small house in a small village, together with a small dog, and a normal-sized partner.
Here I spend most of my time painting – mostly children’s book illustrations, obviously. And also some dog walking, vegetable planting and hand standing (well, I try..)

I don’t have any formal art training, but am just one of the kids who didn’t stop drawing when they grew up. My current skills come from years of doodling when I should’ve been doing something else, and – more recently – concious practicing. I still strive to learn more every day.

Apart from painting every spare minute, I’ve spent most of my adult life working with children. I’ve been a nanny, circus trainer, face painter, teacher’s assistant and “the guy in charge of the bikes at the playground”.
My art reflected my life, and naturally, it eventually developed into children’s book illustration. And that’s how I got to where I am right now.

Painting is what makes me happy, and by putting it out in the world, I hope I can make someone else happy too.
